Traffic advisory this Saturday: Lakewood Community Run Traffic alertResidents may encounter traffic delays when traveling certain streets on Saturday, March 8, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The annual Lakewood Sheriff’s Community Run begins on Clark Avenue in front of the Sheriff’s Station. Hundreds of runners, walkers and wheelchair participants will be in attendance, and Sheriff’s deputies and volunteers will be assigned to traffic control and safety that morning. Family fun will fill Lakewood’s 60th Anniversary 60th Anniversary!The city’s anniversary celebration is a full evening of family-friendly fun and surprises, including acrobats, a ventriloquist, free photo booth and caricature sketch artist, and a “Dancing Through The Decades” show. There will be food and beverages, along with a cash bar.

Community Run this Saturday Fun runners!The Lakewood Community Run returns on Saturday, March 8, 2014 when sheriff’s deputies, recreational runners, families and kids will gather at the starting line in front of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station to run the event’s 5K/10K course for time, or do the 1K “Fun Run” or a 5K walk.

Monte Verde Park showcases Earth Walk Woody the Tree Lakewood's Arbor Day MascotLakewood’s free Earth Walk event returns with interactive experiences for kids and adults on Saturday, March 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will be held at the city’s rustic “gem,” Monte Verde Park.
“Ranger Jack” will be giving hourly guided tours introducing visitors to the quarter-mile-long California nature trail that loops around the park’s perimeter. The trail is a voyage through several ecosystems representing elements of the native California landscape like an oak grove, dry creek and a fern dell. The park features many California native plants.
