No, but as a longtime resident and Realtor, I can honestly say, that Lakewood has “The genuine feel of a small hometown community. Many of us here in Lakewood refer to our city as “Our Mayberry”, very friendly neighbors helping one another”.
Would you let your children play in Lakewood?
Of course! In recognition of Lakewood’s quality parks, playgrounds and recreation services, the city has won a 2014 “Playful City USA” designation.
What about adults? They like to play too!
Adults (children too!) can attend the Lakewood Civic Center Block Party and Fireworks Extravaganza which includes many activities for kids, food samples from several Lakewood area restaurants, community group exhibits, and a Beverage Garden. Guests are entertained by live music from late afternoon until the commencement of the evening fireworks show over the Lakewood Center Mall.
Can you get a Grand-slam breakfast in Lakewood?
You betcha! It is the home of the first Denny’s Restaurant, which originated in 1953 as Danny’s Donuts by founder Harold Butler and was renamed Denny’s Restaurant in 1959.
