Lakewood residents of all ages are invited to join in a community ribbon-cutting for the renovated “pumpkin playground” when it re-opens on Saturday, November 22 at 9:00 a.m.
Festivities include two hours of family-friendly activities from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., such as a photo station at the new pumpkin carriage with a real-life visiting Cinderella and Prince Charming. A commemorative pumpkin playground pin will be given out, along with pumpkin-themed cookies and juice. Face painting and glitter tattoo artists will be on hand, and there will be a sand castle contest.
Mayor Todd Rogers and the Lakewood City Council invite all Lakewood residents and guests to join them in the fun.
“I’m so pleased,” said Rogers, “that we were able to craft a new playground design that will maintain—and even enhance—the traditional Cinderella and pumpkin theme at San Martin Park. The playground will have a new pumpkin carriage along with a large castle area. I know that Lakewood’s children will get many wonderful decades of use out of this new pumpkin playground, just as Lakewood children did in past decades from our first pumpkins. The pumpkin tradition at San Martin lives on!”
